For the sonnet, I chose to do one without any traditional rhyme scheme and tried to keep each line at or around ten syllables. In some way, I wanted to incorporate two voltas, which I used to frame a small narrative about the speaker’s childhood. I cut this poem together with fragments of lines that I’d written down that week, but I mainly wanted to use the line, “in this dream, my mother says, i’m sorry.”
